Having now finished my first course (Photography 1: The Art of Photography which I shall be submitting for Assessment on the 15th of this month) it is time to get cracking on my second, Digital Arts 1: A Creative Approach! Also I hope to soon enrol on another course (Photography1: Digital Photographic Practice) and continue my journey towards a BA Hons Degree in Photography.
Aim: "In 1: Getting Started you will learn how to get images onto the computer screen by scanning them in. You will be introduced to how the computer works, the significance of ROM and RAM and where the images are stored. You will also learn how a scanner works, the importance of file sizes and be introduced to the software you will be using on the course."
The average computer consists of four main components – a keyboard, mouse, monitor (screen) and CPU (central processing unit, this is the part that makes it all work). Some systems such as Apple Macs have the monitor and CPU in one component and laptops have all four (and more) built into one portable compact unit.
Computers also need other components to attach to them for getting images in and printing them out. On this course I’ll be using an all in one Epson SX200 Printer/Scanner for printing and scanning my images. Digital cameras and graphics tablets can also be used as input devices; I have both and therefore shall be using all three input methods.
