Assignment 1: My 2D/3D Scans

The aim of this Assignment is to create an image from scans of both 2D and 3D items.

I have recently returned from a Holiday to Spain. With having a couple of items still lying around from the trip I have decided to scan them and create an image entitled “Holiday”.

2D Items:

  • Boarding pass (Manchester – Murcia)
  • Luggage Sticker
  • Passport
  • Euro Notes
  • Euro Coins
  • Boarding Pass (Murcia – Manchester)

2D

3D Items:

  • Sunglasses
  • Digital Camera
  • Beach Towel

3D

2D and 3D images combined:

First Compositionass1 comp 1

In my first composition I have successfully combined both 2D and 3D scans, however I feel that this isn’t a very aesthetic composition.

Second Compositionass1 comp 2

I re-arranged the items to create a better composition but I still don’t think it’s strong enough.

Third Composition ass1 comp 3

After altering the positioning of the camera strap I feel that the composition has been vastly improved.

Forth Composition ass1 final

I feel that my forth arrangement is my favourite.

After composing an aesthetic image, I decided to arrange the items directly on the scanner bed to see if it’s possible achieve similar results without having to scan the items individually.

2D and 3D items scanned togetherimg015 This image shows my favourite composition of Holiday items all scanned at the same time. The 3D items appear slightly different. The sunglasses appear more blurred whereas the camera appears to have slightly more detail.
